Avocado Pico de Gallo

Avocado Pico de Gallo is the perfect addition to your Mexican meal!  Creamy avocado combined with ripe tomatoes, red onion, spicy jalapeno, lime juice, and fresh cilantro is a great topping to tacos or a delicious sidekick to chips.

Pico de gallo, a ubiquitous Mexican condiment, can be found all throughout Mexican cuisine.  It’s in tacos, burritos, nachos, salads, and sometimes you’ll see it served with chips.

Unlike some other salsas, pico de gallo is not a thin, saucy liquid; it’s a chunky salsa made with fresh tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime juice.

My version, Avocado Pico de Gallo, has chunks of creamy avocado added to it!

This recipe is a great all-in-one condiment since I typically add avocado to all of our Mexican meals anyways.

My kids are both salsa freaks, but one of my boys LOVES spicy food, avocado, and tomatoes, so I was eager to test this out on him.

His response was, “It’s too good!” as he preceded to eat the lion’s share of it!

NOTES:

  • The jalapeno adds a nice, slightly spicy addition.  Feel free to omit it if you prefer.
  • Make sure you use fresh lime juice.  Those plastic bottles of lime juice contain additives and just doesn’t taste the same.
