Equipment

  • small sauce pan or skillet

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 15 oz. can of chickpeas drained
  • 1/4 tsp. cumin
  • 1 oz. fresh lemon juice (approx. 1 lemon)
  • pinch crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • sprinkle sumac (optional)
  • salt & pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a small sauce pan or skillet, sauté the garlic in olive oil for 1-2 minutes, stirring often. Then add the cumin and sauté for another minute to bring out the flavors of the cumin.
  • Add the drained can of chickpeas to the garlic oil along with the red pepper flakes, lemon juice, salt & pepper. Sauté for a couple minutes to let the flavors come together, taste for needed salt & pepper, then toss in the fresh parsley. If you have some, sprinkle the sumac over the beans when serving. Enjoy!
