Loaded with chopped almonds and crunchy oats (and only 4 other ingredients), this homemade Cinnamon Almond Granola is great for healthy snacking or adding to yogurt!  Plus, it’s a cinch to make and even better than the stuff at the store!

Cinnamon Almond Granola

I’ve been recipe testing homemade granola for a while now and can finally say that this is it, my perfect granola! 

This cinnamon granola is crunchy without being jaw-breaking, it’s made with high-quality, natural ingredients, and it’s lightly sweetened with the essence of cinnamon without anything being too in-your-face. 

Since it’s a one-bowl, one-pan recipe, it’s incredibly easy to make too!

Ingredients needed to make this recipe (scroll down to recipe card for complete recipe):

  • Almonds
  • Oats
  • Honey
  • Coconut oil
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla extract
  • Coconut chips (optional)

For some reason granola sold at the grocery store is exorbitantly priced.  Even crazier is that the less junk there is in it, the higher the cost is. 

Good news: making your own granola is very inexpensive! 

Today, I’m bringing you a simple, 6-ingredient recipe for homemade Cinnamon Almond Granola (shown below with coconut).

How to serve granola with almonds?

This granola is wonderful for snacking!  It’s a great addition to lunch boxes and makes a wonderful room temperature snack for hiking or camping.

For breakfast, I like to add it to Greek yogurt and top it with raspberries, blueberries, or sliced strawberries.

NOTES:

  • If you want to add toasted coconut chips (shown below) to your granola, add them when it comes out of the oven. They’re already toasted, so they will burn if you bake them with the granola.
  • Alternatively, I have also used unsweetened, dried (different from toasted) coconut chips and added them at the last 6-7 minutes of baking. 

How long is homemade granola good for?

Keep granola in an air-tight container and use within a week.

  • Mixing bowl
  • sheet pan

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup roughly chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil melted
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • toasted coconut or sweetened dried coconut optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 300°.
    Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until everything is incorporated evenly throughout. Bake on a large cookie sheet lined with parchment paper for 15 minutes.
  • Lightly stir the granola mixture and bake for another 15 minutes. If you want to add toasted coconut chips to your granola, add it when it comes out of the oven. It's already toasted, so it will burn if you bake it with the granola. I have also used unsweetened, dried (different from toasted) coconut chips and added them at the last 6-7 minutes of baking (see "notes" in post).
  • Let granola cool for 45 minutes undisturbed. When completely cool and no longer warm, transfer granola to an air-tight container. Since there are no preservatives, I try to use it up within a week. *Also makes a cute gift in a Mason jar!* Enjoy!
