Between my family in San Diego, my husband’s family on the east coast, and moving every couple years for my husband’s job in the military, I have seen a lot of the United States. Even though I was born and raised in San Diego, and currently live there, I have never been to Sacramento, which is one of the reasons why I am so excited about the International Food Blogger Conference 2017 – it will be at the convention center in Sacramento!
Not only is Sacramento the capital of California, it also claims the title of being the Farm-to-Fork capital. Growing everything from apples to tomatoes to rice and everything in between, this extensive farming region is taken very seriously. Sacramento is even supposed to have excellent seafood and beer!
One of my favorite things to do when I go somewhere I haven’t been before, is read up about what is different there, what they’re known for, and see if they have an indigenous dish for me to try.
While all the farm-fresh food is definitely appealing, what’s bringing me to Sacramento in a couple months is the International Food Blogger Conference. At this conference I will not only get the opportunity to better my blog, I’ll also get to try food and drinks from sponsors and local establishments like Nugget Market, Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, The Original, Superior Lamb, El Dorado Wines, Jardesca Wine, Ironstone Vineyards, and more. If you know what a foodie I am and how much I love a glass of wine (or two), you can understand why I am so excited for this trip.
So tell me, have you been to Sacramento? Do you have a favorite restaurant I should try or know of a local spot I should seek out before I go back to San Diego? Please leave me a comment with any tips or suggestions you have for me! The Intertnational Food Blogger Conference takes place Sep 28-Oct 1 2017 at the Sacramento convention center. If there are any seasonal things happening at that time, please let me know!
*I received a discounted admission to the conference for agreeing to blog about it. These thoughts/opinions are my own.
